Reflecting on course evaluations and other feedback
4 December 2024
Using tauira feedback to identify changes that can be made, now and in future course deliveries, will help to improve the student learning experience.
Tauira feedback can come in many forms including:
- Course evaluations - available via Akoraka | Learn
- Student representatives – sought yourself from your student representative, or passed on through the student representative reports submitted to LUSA twice per semester. Ask your HoD if you have not yet seen a student representative report for your course.
- Mid-semester feedback – gathered in class or online (see our previous tip on mid-semester feedback)
- Informal conversations with students – during class, in your office, or via email
- Assessment – areas where tauira performed well and where they did not perform as well
- Other tauira feedback - see our suggestions for how to gather student feedback during the semester
Once you have gathered tauira feedback, here are some steps you can take, either on your own or with the support of colleagues, to review and reflect on the feedback:
1. Summarise the feedback
2. Identify areas for change
3. Discuss the feedback
4. Finalise the changes
5. Share your plans
For more details on each of these steps, see our previous tip on Reviewing, and responding to, student feedback.
The Teaching Quality team is here to help with any of the above steps. Contact us via email (Teaching.Quality@lincoln.ac.nz) or come along to one of our drop-in sessions.
