Seeing double or triple in Turnitin?
21 August 2024
Are you seeing two Turnitin scores against student submissions? Are you seeing Turnitin scores that are 100%?
We currently have two different Turnitin services - Turnitin Integrity and Turnitin plagiarism. Until Turnitin plagiarism is phased out, please only enable Turnitin in one of these.
How do I know if I have both turned on?
When both integrity and plagiarism are enabled, you will see two Turnitin scores against a student submission. One of these scores will be 100% (or close to), as the student submission goes through both services and will be identified as a 100% match in the second service.
How do I turn one off?
In your Akoraka | Learn course page, in the settings for your assessment activity (e.g. Assignment, Quiz), you will have the option to enable Turnitin through either Turnitin Integrity or Turnitin plagiarism. Make sure only one of these has "Enable Turnitin" selected.
Which one should I use?
Turnitin Integrity offers more features in terms of document checking and is the recommended option. There are more detections and a greater toolset in the similarity screen. Flags for suspicious text and AI detection are available.
How come I cannot see the blue pen icon?
The Turnitin marking platform is not available with Turnitin Integrity. If you are using Turnitin Integrity you will need to mark in the Moodle platform (i.e. "Grade" in the Assignment activity).
What if I want to keep marking in Feedback Studio?
If you want to keep marking in the Turnitin platform, using the blue pen icon, you need to use Turnitin plagiarism. Please note that once Turnitin plagiarism is phased out, marking in the Turnitin platform will no longer be available.
Where do I find help to switch over to marking via Grade?
There are several resources available to help you with marking via Grade (i.e. the Moodle marking platform). Take a look on Teaching at Lincoln under Assessments > Marking Assessments > Marking an "Assignment" Activity in Akoraka | Learn. Here you will find videos on Creating a Rubric, Online Marking - Annotations & Feedback, and Online Marking - Tracking Marking & Marker Allocation.
