Hai Whakamahuki | Welcome sections
8 February 2024
The Hai Whakamahuki | Welcome section on your course page is an important section for connecting with tauira, and is one of the standard sections on all course pages.
Tauira | students have access to Akoraka | Learn course pages seven days before the start of teaching. One of the key things to have ready on your course page is your Hai Whakamahuki | Welcome section.
What to include?
The section should include a Welcome to the Course sub-section with a text and/or video welcome message, and the Hai Pānui | Announcements sub-section with the Announcements Forum.
A summary statement was also included on all course pages: "In this section, you will find a welcome video, Q&A and announcement forums, and some basic instructions for navigating this course page." You can edit this to suit your course.
Here are some ideas of other information you could include, using appropriately labelled sub-sections:
- MS Teams link if you are using a hybrid delivery format
- Introduce yourself forum
- Q&A forum
- Any other introductory/welcome information
- Teaching team including guest lecturers, lab demonstrators, tutors
- Textbook and course readings
- Mid-semester feedback (you may like to hide this until week 5/6)
