The Interloans Service is a cooperative scheme to loan books and obtain articles from other libraries for our researchers. Staff and postgraduates can request items. Undergraduates can request items with the written support of an academic staff member.


  • Supplied from New Zealand and Australia (usually within 3 days): free
  • Urgent $20.00 per item

If unavailable within New Zealand and Australia you will be notified and given the option to proceed with an International Interloan

  • International $20.00 per item – International Urgent $40.00 per item

To request

  • Interloan request
  • From LibrarySearch use the link under the Find / Request tab
  • From any database use the Finder@Lincoln link or button and use the Interloan link
  • Contact us
  • Or bring the item details to the Welcome Desk

Check list:

  • Ensure the item is not already available in our collection (search LibrarySearch)
  • Give as much information about the book or article as possible, please avoid abbreviations
  • Do you require the item by a specific date? Please advise (urgent fee may apply)
  • Include your name, faculty and email address
  • If requesting a Thesis, it will be “Reference only” and must be used in Library, Teaching and Learning


  • Interloans generally arrive within 3-5 days, although some items may take longer depending upon availability at other libraries
  • Most arrive electronically and you will be notified by email
  • Print articles/chapters will be delivered via University internal mail
  • Print books will be held at the Library Welcome Desk for collection, you will be notified by email on arrival
